Elevator & Rudder Work

01/12/2007 - The first day of December

With the rudder trailing edge fully dry it was time to rivet the trailing edge ....eek.  The instructions say first of all partially set every ten rivet and then gradually fill in the gaps working all the time to keep checking it remains straight using the back rivet tool.

I also followed a method that a fellow builder used of alternating shop and manufactured heads on each side of the rudder.  Now this definitely worked for me.  As I had noticed a slight bow to begin with but reversing the rudder brought it back out.

The first picture shows alternating shop and manufactured heads.

01/12/2007 - Left hand elevator skeleton work

I had time to partially rivet the left hand skeleton together; just need to put the plate nuts on.
